چکیده

Ecological engineering is a widely used strategy to address environmental degradation and enhance human well-being. A quantitative assessment of the impacts ecological on ecosystem services (ESs) prerequisite for designing inclusive sustainable programs. In order strengthen national security, Chinese government has implemented world’s largest project since 1999, Grain Green Program (GFGP). We professional model evaluate key ESs in Lvliang City. Scenario analysis was quantify contribution GFGP changes trade-offs/synergy. spatial regression identify main drivers ES trade-offs. found that: (1) From 2000 2018, rates carbon storage (CS), habitat quality (HQ), water yield (WY), soil conservation (SC) were 140.92%, 155.59%, ?454.48%, 92.96%, respectively. compensated negative external pressure CS HQ, significantly improved CS, SC, but at expense WY. (2) The promotes synergistic development also intensifies trade-off relationships between WY SC. (3) Land use change urbanization are positively correlated with WY–CS, WY–HQ, WY–SC trade-offs, while increases NDVI helped alleviate these (4) Geographically weighted explained 90.8%, 94.2%, 88.2% suggest that ESs’ benefits from can be maximized by controlling intensity land change, optimizing urbanization, improving effectiveness afforestation. This general method quantifying impact act as reference future restoration plans decision-making China across world.

Habitat Fragmentation Intensifies Trade-Offs between Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in a Heathland Ecosystem in Southern England

While habitat fragmentation represents a major threat to global biodiversity, its impacts on provision of ecosystem services are largely unknown. We analysed biodiversity value and provision of multiple ecosystem services in 110 fragments of lowland heathland ecosystems in southern England, in which vegetation dynamics have been monitored for over 30 years. Decreasing fragment size was found to...

Trade-Offs between Ecosystem Services in a Mountain Region

Mountain ecosystems provide a broad range of ecosystem services (ES). Trade-offs between different ES are an important aspect in the assessment of future sustainable land-use. Management of ES in mountain regions must confront the challenges of spatial and temporal heterogeneity, and interaction with structural changes in agriculture and forestry. Using a social-ecological modeling framework, w...

A sustainability framework for assessing trade-offs in ecosystem services

Achieving sustainability, i.e., meeting the needs of current populations without compromising the needs of future generations, is the major challenge facing global society in the 21st century. Navigating the inherent trade-offs between provisioning, regulating, cultural, and supporting ecosystem services, and doing so in a way that does not compromise natural capital needed to provide services ...

Patriotic Values for Public Goods: Transnational Trade-Offs for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services?

The natural environment is central to human well-being through its role in ecosystem service (ES) provision. Managing ES often requires coordination across international borders. Although this may deliver greater conservation gains than countries acting alone, we do not know whether the public supports such an international approach. Using the same questionnaire in three countries, we quantifie...

Trade-Offs and Synergies in Ecosystem Service within the Three-Rivers Headwater Region, China

The Three-Rivers Headwaters region (TRHR) is an ecological shelter located in the northeast of the Tibetan Plateau, China, that provides environmental protection and regional sustainable development. This region also provides ecosystem services including water supply and soil conservation and exerts major impacts on both its surroundings, as well as the whole of China. A number of ecological re...
